  1. The curriculum guide is an essential tool in teaching. The guide gives good teaching strategies that cater to the needs of the students. Following the curriculum is recommended as it will assist a teacher for entire school year. Not using the guide to some extent causes a teacher to be ineffective as the teacher is not aware of benchmarks for the teaching level they are at. However, other supplementary materials can be used along with the curriculum guide as their may be better strategies to cater to the needs of your students.

  2. Can a fisherman goes fishing with out his rode? or Can construction work builds without his equipment? Hence, the answer to these questions are No! therefore, a teacher needs to be prepared with the curriculum. In other words its our Bible. The curriculum directs the teachers to follow a sequence of topics for the school year. From the curriculum other documents such as Annual Plan, Units of Works and Weekly Plans are developed from. So, how can a teacher be effective and knowledgeable of what to teach her students without the curriculum. However, the curriculum should be used as a guide and not handicapping tool, meaning others resources can also be used to integrated into our lessons to suit our students learning styles and development.

  3. First of all, planning from the curriculum does not make one an effective teacher instantaneously. An effective teacher must be proficient in the three characteristics of an effective teacher. Those are: have positive expectations for student success, is an extremely good classroom manager, and knows how to design lessons for student mastery.
A curriculum is simply a guide document available to teachers and it would be difficult to write lesson plans without it. Nonetheless using the curriculum, the teacher will be able to create effective lessons based on the national’s goals and objectives. This does not make a teacher an effective teacher.
There is an informal curriculum that most school often uses instead of the formal curriculum. This is so because teachers might see the need to include or take out certain topics for specific grade level. A teacher can then develop lesson plans from included topic(s). This is certainly not the action of an ineffective teacher.

  4. fail to plan and you are planning to fail. i belive that the curriculum is the backbone of teaching lessons in the classroom. teachers who tend to pull topics from their head to teach is only doing our children an injustice. however some teachers my not use the curriculum directly but indirectly. they use an old annual plan which come directly from the curriculum this is what i mean by saying indirectly using the curriculum. for sure if a teacher does not uses any of these to teach them i believe that teacher is not only ineffective but also is doing their students an injustice and should be ban from teaching. it is like building a house with all the wrong tools.

  6. The curriculum planning is important because they are plans created with a set outcome in mind for the students. The curriculum is constructed around these goals so that they can help students retain information, state what materials are important and engage students in learning. However, the lack of a curriculum does not make someone an ineffective teacher. As previously stated by Rosalind, teachers might see a greater need to choose only some of the topics intended to cover in a class rather than all. A wise teacher would ensure that all the basic operations and concepts have been grasped by students rather than racing through the curriculum just to cover topics.

  7. The curriculum is used merely as a guide in planning lessons because there are supplementary documents that can also assist or tie in with the curriculum to be an effective teacher.
